Beyond Greenland's White Gold

Speaker & Executive Briefing Program

Why commit to a permanent position when an Arctic development expert can be hired on demand? No salary. No fees. No strings attached.

Today’s Arctic is one of the world’s most dynamic regions. Greenland’s rising international profile, geopolitical shifts, natural resources, human security concerns and new models of economic development are transforming the relationship between northern societies and the wider world.

With more than four decades of experience in research, teaching, consultancy and project leadership—including extensive work in Greenland and across the Arctic—this program offers keynote speeches, executive briefings and strategic seminars that make complex economic and political issues accessible to a broad audience.

The program is aimed at businesses, governments, organizations, universities and conference audiences seeking informed, independent and easy-to-understand perspectives on the Arctic’s changing future.

It is structured around five interconnected themes: Greenland and the Arctic; human security, development and the Arctic economy; ownership, participation and economic organization; political economy, institutions and economic systems; and natural resources, megaprojects and Arctic development.

Each theme can be delivered as a keynote speech, public lecture, executive briefing or tailored strategic seminar, and can be adapted to the specific interests and needs of the organization. Analysis and report writing can be delivered too.

I. Greenland at a Turning Point

Resources, self-government, Denmark, the United States and Greenland’s future

II. Human Security, Development & the Arctic Economy

What Does Security Really Mean? From military security to people, communities and economic security?

III. OWNERSHIP, PARTICIPATION & ECONOMIC ORGANIZATION

The New Traditional Economy: Cooperatives, community and economic participation in the Arctic?

IV. POLITICAL ECONOMY, INSTITUTIONS & ECONOMIC SYSTEMS

Beyond Mainstream Economics:  Institutions, power and how economies really function?

V.  NATURAL RESOURCES, MEGAPROJECTS & ARCTIC DEVELOPMENT

Natural Resources and the Future of the Arctic
